TYWC Remains Unbeaten

     The Tunkhannock Youth Wrestling Club continued their winning ways on Sunday, defeating two more area youth clubs at Nanticoke Area High School.  The youth Tigers first took on Nanticoke’s club and came away with a convincing 86-18 victory.  The long list of grapplers that collected pins along the way included Owen Woods, Nathan Wilmarth, BJ Works, Brian Rosiak, Connor Munley, Jake Richards, Jacob Hand, Joey Gavek, Dakota Quick, Dalton Ray, Tyler Pugh, and Bryce Brown.  Tommy Traver (technical fall), David Gavek, and Tommy Bachman rounded out the winners for the team.  Also giving it their all for the varsity team were Hunter Gregory, Timmy Davenport, Kurtis Christ, and Ted Nafus.

     The youth grapplers then went on to defeat Hanover’s club by a score of 68-28.  Several Tiger wrestlers came away with pins in this match as well.  David Gavek, Rosiak, Traver, Munley, Hand, Joey Gavek, Quick, and Ray all put their opponents shoulders to the mat.  Other victories came from Works, Bachman (technical fall), Pugh, and Nafus, who came away with a hard-fought overtime win.  Rounding out the varsity team in the match and wrestling tough were Gregory, Woods, Davenport, Christ, Richards, and Brown.  The win improved the TYWC record to 5-0 on the season.

     The future varsity youth grapplers also got some really good experience on Sunday, picking up several pins along the way.  Participating were Tim Davenport, Ethan Munley, Kinsey Petcavage, Erik Works, Brian Christ, Josh Whitmire, Ziggy Rezykowski, Jacob Davenport, Josh Beeman, Nick Wilmarth, Ryan DeRemer, Erin Maloney, Ted Nafus, Lucas Stage, Christopher Franko, Will Dudock, Jacob MacMillan, Brianna Weidner, and Justin Kozlansky.

     In other weekend youth wrestling action, four Tigers travelled to Endicott, NY to participate in a Round Robin tournament.  Connor Munley and Brian Rosiak brought home first place trophies.  Munley picked up one pin along the way and Rosiak battled through a tough bracket to become the champ.  Dalton Ray collected two pins on his way to a third place finish and Lucas Stage fought hard all day to bring home a fourth place finish.
