On Saturday 12/20/08, 5 brave TYWC wrestlers disregarded nasty weather and traveled to Union Endicott high school in Vestal, NY to wrestle in a round robin tournament. The trip proved to be very worth while as the Tigers chewed up the competition on their way to earning some hardware. Lucas Stage & Tommy Traver went undefeated on their way to 1^st place finishes. Brian Rosiak, Connor Munley, & Dalton Ray each lost 1 match to claim 2nd place. The 5 Tiger grapplers ended the day with a combined record of 22 wins to only 3 loses with 13 total pins.

            Sunday brought WVW & the Wilkes-Barre YMCA to town to compete in Penn League action. Both teams were a little too tough to handle as the Tigers dropped both matches. Tunkhannock gave WVW a run for their money with the team score tied 39-39 with 2 matches remaining. WVW eventually recorded the win be a team score of 51-39. Shane Sherwood, Lucas Stage, Jacob Hand, Elliott Hammersley, and Justin Kozlansky recorded pins. Brian Rosiak, Tommy Traver, and Dalton Ray earned victories by decisions.

            Tunkhannock did not have enough gas left in the tank as they lost a humbling 77-17 match to WB YMCA. Shane Sherwood & Joey Gavek pinned their opponents, while David Gavek won a 15-0 technical fall. Rounding out the Tiger’s varsity line-up was: Owen Woods, Josh Beeman, Ryan DeRemer, Jake Richards, Dakota Quick, Alex Smith, Bruce Brown, & Dustin Dippre.

            Nick Kalmanowicz, Brian Christ, Kurtis Christ, Gavin D’Amato, Nathan Wilmarth, Ziggy Rezykowski, Erin Maloney, Pat Casey, Connor Munley, Kyle VonOhlen, & Noah Smith competed in many exhibition matches with members of the other team.

            TYWC next competes on Sunday 1/4/09 with another home match against Scranton and Delaware Valley. Wrestling starts at 12 p.m.
