On Saturday 2/9/08 Elliott Hammersley was the lone
TYWC representative to travel to Jersey Shore high school to wrestle in a 6 man round robin. Hammersley was dominant on the
day as he posted a perfect 5 – 0 record with 3 pins.
Saturday 2/16/08 sent 13 brave, young grapplers to
Montrose to engage in more wrestling action. Tunkhannock proved to be the team to beat in the round robin affair. Dalton Ray
was the lone champion as he posted a perfect record, winning all 4 matches by fall. Trystan and Zach Edmondson, Jake and Josh
Richards, Brian Rosiak, Tommy Traver, Shane Sherwood, and Ben Siegel all walked away with silver medals. Lucas Stage and Shane
Edmondson were awarded bronze, while Chris Packer and Elliott Hammersley finished in 4th and 6th place
respectively. Collectively the young wrestlers from Tunkhannock compiled a total record of 38 wins and 18 losses with 19 pins
on the day.
A Rookie tournament for
1st and 2nd year wrestlers was held at Blue Ridge high school on Sunday 2/17/08. The TYWC was well represented
as 10 wrestlers made the trip. Shane and Trystan Edmondson were untouchable as they claimed champion’s medals. Finishing
in a close second was Duane Peck, Lucas Stage, Connor Munley, Dakota Quick, and Justin Stonier. Jeremy Peck, Justin Kozlansky,
and Shane Sherwood wrestled hard on their way to third place finishes. A total of 9 pins were recorded by these gutsy grapplers.
