On Sunday 12/9/07, the Tunkhannock Youth Wrestling Club (TYWC) traveled to Abington Heights high school to take on the Scranton Junior Knights and the Pittston Patriots. This would be the 1^st contest of the year in Penn Elementary league action. TYWC took the mat first against Scranton. The junior tigers looked hungry and came out strong, winning by an impressive score of 84 – 18. Winning by fall for the tigers were: Shane Sherwood, David Gavek, Gary Webber, Trystan Edmondson, Jake Richards, Joey Gavek, Elliott Hammersley, Chris Packer, Dalton Ray, Ben Siegel and Ben Swilley. Also earning victories in the match were: Tommy Traver, Keith Ashley, and Mike Pugh.

For the second match of the day, it was Pittston who would face Tunkhannock. The little tigers fell behind at the half way point in the match and were not able to overcome the deficit. Pittston held on the hand the tigers a 53 – 45 loss. Pinning their opponents for Tunkhannock was: Sherwood, David Gavek, Hammersley, Paul Webber, and Chris Packer. Also having their hands raised in victory was: Trystan Edmondson and Ben Siegel. Dakota Quick rounded out the varsity line-up.

Tunkhannock’s future varsity was on hand to wrestle exhibition and gain valuable experience. They were as follows: Charlie Brown, Erik Works, Jeremy and Duane Peck, Kristopher Deleo, Nick Kalmanowicz, Avery Newhart, Brandon Owens, Brian Rosiak, Lucas Stage, Conner Munley, Justin Stonier, Reed Atkins, Logan Hegedty, Justin Kozlansky, Christian Scotti, Tyler Pugh, Avery Hemme, Kenny Ray, Ethan Brown, Alex and Noah Smith, Dave Packer, Zach Appleby, Shane Edmondson, Josh Richards, and Ryan Fink.

The TYWC will next travel to Honesdale high school to take on West Scranton and Honesdale.
